![]() ![]() The LSI portfolio of solutions for mobile access, transport, media gateway and data center market segments includes communication and media processors, echo cancellation software, voice and video codecs, multi-service processors and high-performance content inspection processors. This unique, programmable and scalable architecture will enable rapid development of mobile networks with the capacity to handle real-time traffic growth while lowering system and operational costs. This approach improves system and power efficiency by ensuring mobile service workloads are processed by function-optimized cores. ![]() To address these challenges, LSI has created a blueprint for an asymmetrical multicore architecture specifically designed for mobile network applications such as multi-standard radio and single-chip wireless base stations.Īsymmetrical multicore architectures allow multiple cores to be aggregated on a single chip, and for those cores to vary depending upon application and network environment. Similarly, service providers constructing next-generation any-to-any wireless networks need a new generation of highly integrated yet proven silicon and software building blocks. LSI said wireless equipment manufacturers are routinely faced with having to integrate proprietary components from multiple sources due to a lack of multicore solutions. The blueprint calls for LSI to migrate current and future wireless products to a multicore architecture that encompasses traffic management, voice and video transcoding, content inspection, encryption, baseband and user plane processing. LSI is introducing an asymmetrical multicore architecture targeted at mobile networks based on the company's family of networking silicon and software. In addition, tens of millions of existing Nokia Series 40 and S60 users will be capable of enjoying the new service starting in early May. The Nokia N97, available in June, will be the first device to include the storefront. The Ovi Store content will range from applications, games and videos to widgets, podcasts, location-based applications and personalization content for Nokia Series 40 and S60 devices. Content providers can sign up there today for access. Beginning in March, content providers, developers and the existing Forum Nokia developer ecosystem can begin uploading their content at to be the first to distribute their media through the Ovi Store. Nokia said its goal is to provide a scalable media distribution network unrivaled in size and opportunity, with advanced content targeting capabilities and monetization options that allow content providers and application developers to leverage the power of Nokia's global scale in devices. Nokia preview plans for its "Ovi" Store, which will offer consumers relevant, targeted media through their social connections and their physical location information. ![]()
